The American prime time television soap Dynasty, aired to public audience from the 12th of January 1981 to the 11th of May 1989. The long airing show was created for the ABC network by the couple screen writers Esther Shapiro and Richard Shapiro; the show was however produced by Aaron Spelling. The Dynasty story revolves around the wealthy family � the Carringtons, who live in Denver Colorado and acquired most of their wealth and power through their involvement in the oil industry.
Dynasty has four main characters that the audience can understand; there is Blake Carrington the power full oil tycoon who is seen as the type of man that uses unscrupulous means to get his way; his character is played near perfectly by John Forsythe. Linda Evans plays Blake Carrington new wife Krystle Jennings; the show begins with Blake marrying a much younger Krystle Jennings who was once Blake�s secretary.
There is the promiscuous and resentful Fallon Carrington who is played by Pamela Sue Martin; and lastly Blake�s homosexual son Steven � played by Al Corley. Blake Carrington�s marriage to the beautiful Krystle Jennings leads her to an estranged life in a household where her new role as wife is received with hostility especially from Blake�s daughter Fallon.
The hostility does not end with Blake�s daughter; workers in Carringtons household patronize Krystle with little regard of the consequences. Krystle only finds some solace in the fact that Steven is on her side even though he is indifferent of his sister�s actions to Krystle; Steven tends to focus most of his energy in his disapproval of his fathers dealing, their political differences and on Stevens promotion as the heir of the Carrington business.
Blake on the other hand is seemingly unaware of how his wife Krystle is treated in the house as she never openly complains about it and he is more often then not, too pre-occupied by the going on of his business empire; he is however devoted to her as we see this through the show. The show takes the audience throw the roller coaster life of a wealthy Blake and his relationships with his family and his enemies.
